Это случилось как раз в то время, на которое была назначена встреча жителей Усть-Катава с депутатом Госдумы от политической партии «Справедливая Россия» Валерием Гартунгом. Несмотря на это, зал был полон. Валерий Карлович общался с устькатавцами при свете фонарей. Свет был включен только после телефонного звонка Гартунга председателю челябинского отделения партии «Единая Россия» В. Мякушу.
А около 8 часов вечера по местному телевидению три раза «прокрутили» ролик кандидата в депутаты Собрания депутатов округа П. Абрамова, видимо, «забыв» про другого кандидата – Галину Павловну Чернову. Когда она, В. Гартунг и другие справедливороссы пришли на телевидение, разбираться, в чем дело, то застали там заместителя гендиректора УКВЗ – Д. Чудиновских и еще одного его подчиненного – А. Дуюнова. Был там в это время и директор телерадиокомпании Д. Новиков, который объяснил возникшую ситуацию «техническими неполадками». Общественный порядок в помещении телерадиокомпании был восстановлен сотрудниками милиции после звонка от челябинского руководства.
Сотрудникам правоохранительных органов пришлось наводить порядок и в субботу, 13 марта: во время «дня молчания», когда запрещена любая агитация, они задержали одного из жителей города за распространением газеты «Метро» с агитационными материалами, порочащими одного из кандидатов на должность главы Усть-Катавского городского округа. Заявления о данных нарушениях направлены в территориальную избирательную комиссию и прокуратуру Усть-Катава.
