В преддверии Рождества в Усть-Катаве, в городском спортивно-оздоровительном комплексе, прошел, ставший уже традиционным, турнир по настольному теннису, посвященный памяти одного из лучших теннисистов Челябинской области, неоднократного призера юношеских областных соревнований и турниров, устькатавца Вячеслава Гимаева.
Замысел проведения турнира возник в августе 2010 года. Тогда и ветераны-теннисисты, и молодые спортсмены поддержали идею ежегодного проведения таких соревнований в Усть-Катаве. В январе прошлого года намерения воплотились в жизнь, а в этом году турнир был проведен во второй раз. Произошло это во многом благодаря спонсорам турнира — устькатавцу Алексею Гольдаде, газете «Среди вершин», предпринимателю Андрею Перепеловскому.
Как рассказал один из организаторов турнира Сергей Родионов, в соревнованиях приняли участие 12 теннисистов самого разного возраста.
Первое место в соревнованиях занял Виктор Рябухин. На втором месте — Сергей Родионов, на третьем — Анатолий Ананьин. Четвертым призером турнира стал Виктор Николаев. Все призеры награждены ценными подарками. Судил соревнования тренер Сергей Будаев.
